The Los Angeles Kings will look to build some momentum after picking up a 5-1 win over Vegas in their last outing. Vegas opened the scoring early in the 1st, but their lead lasted all of 3:49 before Nikita Scherbak tied the game for L.A. at 1-1 after 20 minutes of play. Matt Luff and Jeff Carter vaulted the Kings to a 3-1 lead after the 2nd period and Derek Forbort and Nate Thompson would each bury in the 3rd to help the Kings tie their highest goal output of the season so far. Jonathan Quick got the win to improve to 2-6-1 this season after stopping 29 of 30 shots faced in the winning effort.

The Detroit Red Wings come into this game looking to rebound after a 3-2 loss to the New York Islanders in their last outing on Saturday night. The Wings would jump out to a 2-0 1st period lead with goals from Justin Abdelkader and Niklas Kronwall, but that’s all the scoring Detroit would do as the Isles erased the deficit by the midway point of the 2nd period and took the lead 3:24 into the 3rd period and closed the door on Detroit the rest of the way to seal the deal. Jonathan Bernier ended up with the loss, falling to 4-7-0 this season after allowing all 3 goals on 19 shots in the defeat.
Los Angeles is 11-24 in their last 35 games overall and 4-12 in their last 16 road games while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 games against a team with a losing record. Detroit is 1-5 in their last 6 home games and 2-7 in their last 9 games against the Pacific Division while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall. Los Angeles is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams and 7-25-1 in the last 33 meetings between these two teams in Detroit.
The Kings have had recent success in this matchup, but a lot of those wins came in L.A. and came when the Kings weren’t this bad. Detroit has cooled off from their hot run a few weeks ago, but the Wings have had continued success over the years at home against the Kings and quite simply, we aren’t getting enough plus money to make a case to take the Kings here, so I’ll lay the juice with Detroit in this spot.
