The Oilers will look to get back into the win column with a visit from St. Louis this evening. Can the Oilers rebound?
Let’s go to the tape.

The Oilers are saying

Connor McDavid might finish with 150 points if he were free from entanglement. The Canucks were a scintillating 3/5 on their power play, the Oilers were 0/1.

The Blues are saying

“You’ve got to go out there with some pride and jump back in the game...I thought in the second, we did a little bit. We pushed and ended up getting a couple goals. In the third, there was nothing, and you’ve got to have a lot more pride than that.”
That’s Blues head coach Craig Berube after his team suffered a 7-2 drubbing at the hands of the Calgary Flames.
As of this writing, the Flames are still atop the Pacific Division. For now, anyways.
HAVE SOME OF THIS
  • Alex Chiasson has fifteen goals on the season. The season isn’t half old yet. Chiasson scored his fifteenth goal late in the third period of Edmonton’s 4-2 loss to Vancouver on Saturday. I’m not sure when the goals run out for this guy. He might be a 25 goal scorer this year after scoring 59 total goals over the last five years combined.
  • What’s wrong with the Blues? A lot, really. They’ve been into injury trouble for significant portions of the season, but the whole goal-scoring thing seems to be a big part of it. They’ve scored just 88 goals so far on the year (that’s good for 28th in the league), and goaltending hasn’t saved the ship nearly as much as it has Edmonton. Jake Allen’s kicking around a sub 900 SV%, while Chad Johnson (.884 SV%) was recently sent to the minors.
  • NET GAINS: Mikko Koskinen is a perfect 7-0-0 at home this season, and I’d expect to see him get the start once again tonight (11-4-1, .928 SV% / 2.28 GAA / 3 SO). Jake Allen got the hook in St. Louis’ 7-2 loss to the Flames, he’ll look to rein it in a bit tonight (10-9-4, .897 SV% / 3.23 GAA / 1 SO)
  • SICK BAY: Andrej Sekera (ankle), Kris Russell (undisclosed) and Oscar Klefbom (finger) are out tonight for the Oilers. Alex Pietrangelo (hand) and Robby Fabbri (shoulder) are day-to-day.
